Completing a 7-day task in only 4 days! The tilting converter retrofitting project at Shagang Group achieves remarkable speed!
Update time:2025-06-04Views:
In April 2025, the upgrading and retrofitting project for the No.1 tilting inverter in Workshop 1 of Shagang Group’s converter plant, undertaken by our company, successfully passed full-load commissioning and was officially put into production.
This retrofit replaced the original 6SE70 series MASTERDRIVES drives with Siemens SINAMICS S120 series variable frequency drives, thoroughly resolving the industry-wide "nodding" oscillation issue of the legacy drive system. Meanwhile, the PLC control system received intelligent upgrading with newly added equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis functions. The transformation has significantly boosted the stability and reliability of the converter tilting system, delivering core benefits including lower equipment failure rates, reduced maintenance costs and increased annual effective production hours.

Faced with the extreme construction schedule challenge — the original 7-day timeline was compressed to only 4 days (96 hours), our technical team immediately activated the emergency response mechanism. Adopting a non-stop work mode with day shifts working back-to-back and night shifts running without interruption, the team efficiently completed all procedures including hardware disassembly and installation, program commissioning, and joint system debugging. Supported by precisely aligned working procedures and consummate technical expertise, the team not only fulfilled the delivery commitment on schedule but also finished all commissioning work 16 hours ahead of time. This recovered critical production uptime for Shagang’s converter production line and set a new record for the shortest construction period of tilting equipment retrofitting projects at Shagang Group.

At the project acceptance site, leaders from Shagang’s workshop and branch factory spoke highly of the transformation: "This retrofit has not only eliminated a long-standing equipment defect that plagued production for years, but also set an efficiency benchmark by finishing the whole project within four days and delivering ahead of schedule, demonstrating the robust strength of a professional technical team." As a core component of the overhaul project for Shagang’s No.1 converter, the successful completion of this upgrade delivers powerful technical support for the client’s production and operation. It also deepens strategic mutual trust between both parties in the field of industrial automation and lays a solid foundation for expanding future cooperation.

Going forward, our company will continue to take "driving industrial upgrading through technological innovation" as our mission. We will focus on the industrial automation sector and provide more customers with full-lifecycle integrated solutions featuring accurate diagnosis, efficient retrofitting and intelligent operation & maintenance, supporting traditional manufacturing industries in their leap toward digitalization and intelligent transformation.
