On October 17, 2024, the auxiliary drive localization replacement project for the hot rolling mill of Ningbo Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., undertaken by Ducheng Industrial, was successfully completed. This move further accelerates the localization of core equipment at Ningbo Iron and Steel and helps the enterprise cut costs and boost efficiency.
Most of the original drive devices on the hot rolling line of Ningbo Iron & Steel adopt Siemens 6SE70 series multi-drive inverters. Having been in service on site for over a decade, these inverters suffer from aging components and unexpected shutdown failures, which have severely disrupted regular production. In addition, the Siemens 6SE70 inverters have been out of production for many years, making spare parts hard to source.
To address the above issues, Ducheng Industrial quickly set up a special research team led by Chief Engineer Ye Jianxin. After full communication with electrical experts from Ningbo Iron & Steel, multiple rounds of plan optimization and practical simulation tests, the team finally adopted domestic Hopewind HD2000 series inverters for localization replacement.

On October 17, taking advantage of the scheduled maintenance window, engineers from Ducheng Industrial, Ningbo Iron & Steel and Hopewind Electric completed the dismantling of old equipment as well as the installation and commissioning of new units in one smooth process, which were successfully put into operation. This laid a solid foundation for the full-scale rollout of domestic alternative auxiliary drive equipment across Ningbo Iron & Steel.
